Over the years, organizations have figured out that their companies culture can either attract the best of the best talent out on the market or detract the best of the best talent. That is why interviewing is so difficult these days. Companies strive to hire intelligent, innovative, creative, humorous, and collaborative employees to help them grow their business and maintain their culture as advertised, and retain valuable talent in a tight market. This makes it difficult for companies to find the right talent quickly. Companies go through so many candidates before landing on "the one." About 1/3 of the candidates declined by hiring managers due to technical inadequacies, but more often, candidates are passed over due to them not aligning with the company's culture/vision. Companies want to fall in love at first sight, and if they love your resume but not your personality, it won't be easy to land your dream job. You have to know what these companies strive for morally/ethically, fiscally, and competitively, then tailor your answers in a way that shows you too, are aligned with those interests. This can be hard for many people to portray in interviews naturally, but it can be done with some good old-fashioned preparation. I work with my clients to better understand their personal and professional goals and tailor a practical, skills-based, results-oriented plan to help them achieve those goals.
