I like many other recruiters fell into recruiting. I started recruiting when I was in college in the early 90's for Management Recruiters International (MRI), just to make some extra money. I then joined the Army, got out, went back in then got out again, finished my degree in International Relations, moved to Germany where I received an MBA in International Business and upon graduation joined General Electric (GE) in Sales and Marketing. After a number of years with GE I found myself looking for work and had a bad experience with a recruiter. I knew I could do better, so I called up an Agency and asked for a job.
In Agency I recruited for and placed candidates who were Doctors, as well as well as mid, senior and executive level candidates in Program Management, Product Management, IT, Sales, Marketing and HR, within Oil and Gas, Chemical, Manufacturing and Healthcare industries.
After leaving agency life I joined Amazon as a full cycle recruiter, later becoming a client lead, placing people in both Technical and Non-Technical roles, from L5-L7 both IC and Manager. During that time I built and delivered interview, compensation, diversity and recruiting training programs for recruiter as well as my client ICs and managers. After 3+ years I left Amazon to join Facebook (Meta).
While at Facebook as a recruiter I worked in the areas of Machine Learning, Machine Learning Infrastructure as well as Specialized ML. I also recruited in the areas of Software Engineering, Front and Backend, and iOS. I spent 3+ years at Facebook leaving in 2021 to take on a leadership role within Upstart.com an exciting Fintech company.
