My Experience

I was a Tech Lead and Manager at Google for 12 years. Most recently, I led the Google Photos Android core team and I was part of the team that did the initial launch of Google Photos. Google Photos has over 1 billion monthly active users, and we shipped a new version of the app every week. I was an active software developer while also being a technical leader and people manager.

Prior to my work on Google Photos, I was on the core team of Google Now (which later morphed into the Google Assistant), and before that I worked on Google Mobile Maps. On both those teams, I was a full-stack software engineer writing code for Android and several layers of server infrastructure. I also worked on Google's Aerial Imagery team and the Google Search Appliance.

I was fortunate to have a great set of coaches and mentors who have helped me throughout my career. I've been a senior engineering manager for many years, and I have over 20 years experience helping engineers and engineering leaders grow their skills to be more effective. I'm particularly skilled at helping tech leads and managers tackle the challenges of those demanding roles.

In addition to the extensive interview experience I mentioned above, I was also on a couple of acquisition interview teams. I've also given mock interviews and Google Interview coaching to college students through Google's CodeU program.
